Pollster Ben Ephson says consistent calls on veteran politician and Member of Parliament for Ningo/Prampram Enoch Teye (E.T) Mensah not to contest the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary primaries must cease.

According to him, the experienced politician is matured enough to know when the “ground is not fertile” for him, which will then inform his stepping down.

E.T Mensah who has been MP for the area for the past nineteen (19) years is expected to face stiff challenge and given a run for his money by a Presidential Staffer Samuel George Nartey who was once his protégé, should he decide to re-contest.

Although Mr E T Mensah has for nearly two decades put the Ningo-Prampram seat under lock and key for the NDC, reports are that the groundswell for his replacement ahead of the 2016 elections in recent times has been intense, with the youthful Samuel George Nettey being tipped to cause a stir by upstaging the shrewd politician.

Political watchers of the 2012 parliamentary election results for the Ningo-Prampram constituency posited that but for Afienya, Dawenya and other adjourning settler communities in the constituency, natives of Ningo, who have been loyally voting NDC since 1992 but have been denied development and a district capital, would have succeeded in tumbling E T Mensah who comes from Prampram.

But speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday, Ben Ephson stated that E.T Mensah must be allowed to make his own decision and not be pressured to step down.

“That contest will be very interesting to watch when the NDC Primaries is held, I will really relish that election. E.T Mensah is very experienced and knows what to do at any given time, I don’t understand why people are calling on him to step down”.
