Veteran actor, Fred Amugi last Saturday supported the Hogof Theatre Academy with an undisclosed amount of cash to motivate them with the good work they are doing with theatre.

The actor whose talent is compared to Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman by his manager, Mawuko Kuadzi of MK Content, said his expectation is to see Theatre in Ghana gaining new identity.

According to him, Theatre which is aimed at communicating developmental messages to target audiences has nurtured many known actors in Ghana.

He noted that Traditional forms of theatre continue to exist and evolve and remain very much a part of Ghanaian life.

Hogof Theatre Academy is a dedicated group of young theatre professionals, who are advocates for education and social change through Drama, Music and Dance.

They have been in existence for the past 15 years with no help from any sponsor. The gesture was due to the amazing performances the group put up at the maiden edition of Night of Total Theatre, which was organized by the group.

Fred Amugi in a statement said, the love for theatre is not the same as it used to be and encourage that school and community theatre groups should be encourage because it prevents the youth from been idle.

“When they are idle, the devil will find work for them to do. No wonder a lot of youths go on social media and exposes themselves only to become famous.”

He also pledged to feature in the group’s next play, which is slated for 31st, March 2018 entitled “The Mahama’s”.
