UEFA boss, Michel Platini, says he asked embattled FIFA boss Sepp Blatter to resign but the latter ignored it with the excuse it was too late to do that.

At a news conference Thursday, the head of Europe’s governing football body said Blatter defended his decision not to step down gracefully, insiting “it was too late”.

Platini, a critic of the Blatter administration made the comments a day after 6 of FIFA’s respected officials were rounded up in a quiet dawn raid at a hotel in Switzerland.

Investigations dating back to the 1990s have implicated the six for various criminal acts including money laundering.

Blatter has asked not to be blamed for the happenings.
