A total of 25 aspirants have successfully filed their nomination forms in the Eastern Region to contest various positions of the ruling New patriotic Party in the region by close of Nominations Friday March 24,2018.
Apart from the incumbent Regional Youth Organizer,Jerry Osei -Opoku, who is going unoppose,all incumbent regional Executives are keenly being contested.
Five(5) persons are contesting for the Nasar Position while three(3) are contesting the Regional Women Organizer position .The incumbent Regional Organizer ,Kwame Appiah Kodua,is being contested by another aspirant.
The Regional Secretary ,Prince Aboagye, is being challenged by a lecturer at Koforidua Technical University, Buckman Akufo, while the Assistant Secretary position is being battled by two(2)aspirant.
The incumbent Regional 1st Regional Vice Chairman ,Alhaji Omar Bodinga is being contested by Michael Oteng Adu -former New Juaben South Constituency Chairman ,the position of 2nd Vice Chairman is being contested by four(4) aspirants .
The Regional Chairman ,Kingston Ohemeng Kissi, is facing fierce contest by a 37 year old Businessman ,Paul Amaning ,who has vowed to oust the Regional Chairman to inject vibrancy and energy into the party in the region .
After the filing of the forms, Vetting would also be held from March 27-29, 2018 while vetting results shall be released not later than March 31, 2018 before the regional level elections held from April 21-24 across the country.
Paul Amaning who wants to unseat the incumbent Regional Chairman, Kingston Kusi, says he is optimistic he will sail through the vetting to give him impetus to unseat the Regional Chairman to enable him execute his vision thus creating a strong bond and dignity between the youth of the party and top party hierarchy and also create job opportunities for the youth to ensure that the party retains Power in 2020.
Meanwhile, Eric Daansah Appiah,a patron of the party at Akyem Oda aspiring for the Regional Treasurer position says he is bring ideas to mobilize sufficient financial resources to enable the party have enough resources to work with from Polling station to Region.
