Strange snakes have invaded Abono a farming community in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.

The situation has left the residents terrified and living in a state of fear. The invasion started last month.

Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo reported that no snake bites have been recorded.

The residents narrated that over 60 different kinds of snakes have been killed in houses, a situation that has left them with sleepless nights.

A 70 year old Nana Kwame Gyimah revealed that though this is not the first time the community is experiencing snakes invasion, this year has been worst.

“I have killed 3 snakes in my house. Two in my bed room and one in my kitchen. Sometimes we are even afraid to sleep because of the snakes. As you can see people are sleeping near the lake all because they couldn’t sleep last night because of the snakes” he said.

The Ashanti Regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Director. Hon Kwabena Nsenkyire said measures have been put in place to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile NADMO in collaboration with Moder Pest have embarked on fumigation exercise in the community.
