Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has said views by critics that Akufo-Addo’s reaction to the ongoing national leadership crisis in the NPP has come too late, are unfounded.

He explained that the Press conference by Nana Addo on matters that had upset the NPP was stretched in the right perspective, because it was borne out of broad consultation.

The Effutu legislator highlighting on the relevance of Akufo Addo’s address on News File on Accra-based Joy Fm noted that, the intervention by the NPP flagbearer was apt and had the potency to heal the party of the ailing state it has plunged itself into.

He however commended the National Chairman, Paul Afoko, for accepting the call of the Flagbearer, adding that, it’s key. “He has submitted himself to the flagbearer and that is politically correct,” he stated.

According to him, the next step of the way is for the party’s supporters to allow the beleaguered national executives to continue their operations, as Nana Addo advised in his communication Friday.

“They have the mandate of the people to work as national executives,” Nana Addo said.

Mr Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, National chairman and General secretary respectively have snubbed persistent calls for them to step aside by party members who accuse them of culpability in the death of the Party’s Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama.
