Ghanaian rapper Trigmatic has rated the performance of the President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Bice Osei Kuffuor, popularly known as Obour as 40%

In an interview with Kasapafmonline.com, the songwriter said “I will give him 40% for his performance.”

He said “Obour unfortunately for him, when he became president he was quite young. Expectation was very high especially towards the younger musicians [but] People didn’t really feel what they were expecting.”

Asked whether he would contest in the upcoming elections Trigmatic said “I am not contesting this year. My reason is that I don’t think this is the time.

“In as much as there’s a lot I could have done if I decided to but I don’t think this is the time and besides there is too much to do. So I’d rather take my time see what is happening around and go for when the time is right. But for now I am not ready.

Touching on the current state of the Union he said “there are certain things that they doing right but there are lot of things they are not doing right. There are so many things they can do better. I see new innovation they are trying to do which they can do better.”

He added that he will he throw his support behind any musician with who has the best ideas to win the presidency of MUISGA.

“I will support any musician that has great ideas, great innovations, passionate about music and how far he can take music Union as a whole body. To be honest I haven’t seen anybody that is passionate about the Business Avenue or venture.

“But all the musicians contesting have the chance of ruling but I can’t single out any musician that I will throw my support behind because of my position now.”

The quest for a new Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) president to replace Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour) has become imminent as the Union announced June 26, 2019, for its national elections.

There are seven positions up for grabs. The positions are: President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer, National Organiser and National Welfare Officer.

The MUSIGA elections will be held in all regional capitals, as stated in the amended MUSIGA constitution.

All members who hope to become president will have to pay GhC2,500 as filing fees; vice president hopefuls have to pay GhC2,000; General secretary aspirants will pay GhC1,500, while those going for the other remaining position will pay GhC1,000.

The elections will elect a new leadership for the Union to steer the affairs of the group for a four-year term after the term of the current executive under the leadership of its President Bice Osei Kuffour in 2019.

Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is an umbrella group that unites all musicians in Ghana irrespective of life music genre.
