Police in Tema have shot dead two wanted armed robbers after they robbed two Lebanese men of an amount of GHC100,000 Thursday afternoon.

The motor-riding robbers reportedly trailed the Lebanese who had gone to withdraw the money from the Zenith Bank branch near the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and shot the tyres of the car rendering it immovable. They then took the money from their victims and sped off.

Luckily, a police patrol team that was in the area was alerted of the incident and immediately gave the robbers a hot chase.

The robbers sensing danger begun shooting the police officers, but the cops who had superior firepower returned fire hitting both robbers in the process.

One of the armed robbers died on the spot but the other robber who was said to be bleeding profusely tried fleeing with the money. As the Police officers pursued him further, he started dropping the money in a bid to distract the police officers.

He ran towards the Rana Motors area where he fell dead.

The Tema Regional Police Crime Officer ACP Kissi Frimpong confirmed the incident, adding that the bodies of the robbers have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue.
