A Parliamentary aspirant for the Klottey Korle constituency on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings says she’s riding on the glory and popularity of her parents as she contest for the parliamentary seat.

According to her, she never planned to bask in their glory but she has come to the realization that is inevitable.

Dr Zanetor who is the first child of former President Jerry John Rawlings is seeking to upstage the incumbent Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Nii Armah Ashietey who is also a former Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, to become the new MP for the area in 2017.

She is currently embarking on vigorous campaign activities and holding several engagements with the constituents to ensure that she snatches the seat.

Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Tuesday, Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings stated that in as much as the popularity of her parents could impact positively on her chances of winning the primaries and eventually securing the seat, she is not oblivious of the fact she cannot win solely on the back of her parents’ achievements.

“That was not my plan to ride on my parents back, but it looks like I cannot do away with that. I just cannot divorce myself from my parents because of politics. Beyond who my parents are, I must also be able to convince people to vote for me. There may be people who may not like me because of who my parents are. These are the people I must try to get on my side”.
