The incumbent Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuem, George Mireku Duker, has been projected to retain the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a very hard fought battle.
Duker, according to the provisional results obtained from the 252 polling stations, won a very slim margin of 48 votes.
He polled 31,913 votes, representing 33.60%.
His main opponent from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Justice Abban, on the other hand polled 31,865 votes, representing 31.84%.
Surprisingly, an Independent candidate who broke away from the NPP, Joycelyn Andoh, also polled 28,846 votes, representing 30.37%.
The Electoral Commission is yet to release the certified results.
Duker was first elected as a Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuem in 2016 with 27,169 votes out of the 68,909 valid vote cast, representing 62.21%, and beating actor, Seth Kwame Dzoko, NDC, who polled 24,044 (35.12%), Seedof Asiedu Simpey, PPP, and Justice John Kwakye of the CPP.
