NPP Director of Elections, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is readying itself for the upcoming by-elections in the Amefi West District in the Western Region.

According to the Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has informed the constituency executives to put their acts together to contest the election.

“We’ve written to the constituency asking the executives to get ready because we will definitely contest in that election”, he told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday,

The election is expected to be held in December following the death of the MP for the area, Hon. John Gyetuah which occurred about a month ago.

The Amenfi West seat can safely be said to be a preserve of the ruling National Democratic Congress for nearly two decades. It however remains to be seen how the NPP will fair in the elections.

Meanwhile, the NDC has indicated that whoever emerges the winner in its parliamentary primaries set for November 21 will automatically represent the party in the impending bye election.
