Alhaji Aliu Karbe, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Chairman of the Klottey Korley says he is stunned by the sheer apathy of the National Headquarters vis-à-vis the writ filed by Mr. Philip Addison against the outcome of the NPP 2nd August parliamentary primaries.
“I don’t know whether it is somebody’s interest at the party headquarters not to bring such a critical suit filed against the party to the attention of the Executives for the necessary action to be taken on it, or better still enter appearance in court on that case.
“Why must the party sit aloof until this time, when the party has been served since 12th October per the records of the court,” he questioned in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday.
He however says the constituency executives will as a matter of urgency meet on Thursday on the pending case so they forward a memo to the party headquarters for the officials to take the necessary steps and also bring the attention of the constitutional and legal committee of the party to it.
Alhaji Aliu Karbe who is enraged by the development of legal battles in respect of the primaries has called for disciplinary actions against the two who are in court.
“Per our party constitution, you have to exhaust all the party mechanism before seeking any redress in court. In any case I’m not sure they have exhausted all the party structures in that regard. Indeed there has been breach of the NPP constitution and the party needs to sanction them appropriately.”
Phillip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah have filed a joint suit at the High court praying the court to annul the Korle Klottey parliamentary primary results.
The two are contending that results of the August 2 election which was pronounced in favour of Valentino Nii Noi was illegal.
They’re arguing that more than half of the delegates were disenfranchised, which they claim contravenes the tenets of democratic principles set to govern the elections.
