The Kaneshie District Court has remanded a 38-year-old electrician who was arrested for allegedly killing his 20-year-old girlfriend by strangling her in Kpone Bawaleshie in the Greater Accra Region.

The prosecution claims that Kwame Krappah, aka Awana, tied his now-deceased girlfriend’s neck behind her back with a blue nylon rope and strangled her.

He was then accused of having sexual relations with the corpse before burying it nearby.

The defendant was charged with murder at his arraignment, and the judge preserved his plea pending further instructions on the case docket.

The case has been postponed by the magistrate, Her Worship Ama Ama Adomako Kwakye, so that Krampa can appear again on September 5, 2023.

Brief facts

The accuser was an electrician and a plumber, while the complainant Joyce Ago was a dealer in this instance, according to Chief Inspector Margaret O. Boadi, the prosecutor.

According to Chief Inspector Boadi, Judith Kpeglo’s mother was the complaint, who also shared a home with Krappah in Bawaleshie.

According to the Prosecutor, the deceased, a student teacher at a school in Kpone Bawaleshie, left home on July 11, 2023, to go to work at the school, but she never came home.

The complainant informed the police on July 17, 2023, that her daughter (the deceased) was missing. This information allowed the police to arrest Krampah, the deceased’s boyfriend, as a result.

Investigations revealed that on July 11, 2023, at or around 2:00 pm, the deceased left the school to buy food and then proceeded to the accused person’s house to eat it, according to the prosecutor.

She claimed that after eating, the deceased asked the accused for GHC 200 to braid her hair, and he (the accused) provided it to her.

According to Chief Inspector Boadi, once the deceased finished eating, she informed Krappah that she was returning to the school. Unprompted, Krappah then struck the deceased from behind, strangling her with a blue nylon rope.

The prosecutor said, Krappah buried the deceased on the same day at around 10:00 p.m. after excavating a grave on a nearby plot.

According to the prosecution, Krappah confessed to the crime and directed the police to the location of the suspected burial site.

He said the body was exhumed with a court order and put in the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.
