The Minister of Environment, Science and Technology and Innovation Mahama Ayariga has toured a number of Filling stations in Accra to assess at first hand their compliance with environmental best practices.
The Minister, Mahama Ayariga who led a team of officials on the tour said a task force will lead a major campaign to clamp down on all illegal stations within the 3600-operating ecosystem. A station being constructed without a permit from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the Batsona Road has been asked to cease operations.
A revisited debate, it gained currency after last Wednesday’s fire blast at the Nkrumah Circle GOIL Filling Station in Accra.
