The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, A.B.A Fuseini has described President Akufo-Addo’s reshuffling of his Ministers as nothing more than a mere election gimmick.
The President on Wednesday announced a major cabinet reshuffle 10 months before the general elections in December.
According to a statement from the Office of the President, Mr Akufo-Addo relieved 13 ministers including embattled finance minister Ken Offori-Atta and 10 deputy ministers of their duties.
“The President personally expressed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited Government, for their commitment, competence, dedication and hard work in office, which helped in the realisation of Government’s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven years, and wished each of them well in their future endeavours,” the statement said.
Speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM Thursday, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini said the reshuffle is a calculated move by President Akufo-Addo to place his new ministers in a position to win the upcoming December 7 Parliamentary election.
”He has removed all those who lost election, any minister or deputy minister who lost election has been removed, why? All those Members of Parliament who voluntarily have indicated they are not coming back, they have removed them. So, it is an election gimmick that he’s making to ensure that resources will be available for those he’s put in place as Ministers to be able to campaign for the 2024 elections.
”For us when we started singing this song two years ago that Ken Ofori-Atta is a disaster for this country we should get rid of him as fast as we can, they did not listen. One year later, our colleagues on the other side listened to us and said Ken must go. Why did the President not yield and do the reshuffle at that time, at least at that time it would have been more meaningful to make an economic impact.”
