The Central Regional branch of the Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to ensure that the suspect who stabbed the son of the Minister for Fisheries and Aqua Culture, Mavis Hawa Koomson is prosecuted.
The party has condemned the stabbing incident that occurred at EC Registration Centre in the ongoing limited voters transfer last week.
The NDC Branch Organizer for Kasoa Jomens – Kpomotey Electoral Area has been arrested and remanded by the Accra High Court for stabbing the son of Hawa Koomson, Ato Koomson after a little misunderstanding, an incident which left the victim in critical condition after a little misunderstanding.
Addressing a press conference at NPP party office in Kasoa, Central Regional NPP Secretary, Richard Takyi Mensah condemned the unfortunate incident and called on the IGP to stand firm and prosecute the suspect to serve as deterrent to others
“Fortunately, this dastardly act happened in the full glare of the police and they arrested the suspects and have put them before court. We trust the IGP Dr. Akuffo Dampare led police service and we are confident that the IGP will follow this case and ensure that justice is served, and the culprits ruthlessly dealt with according to law.”
Takyi Mensah further said Kasoa was peaceful until the NDC elected Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor as Parliamentary Candidate.
“As soon as Naa Koryoo became the Parliamentary candidate in 2020, Kasoa began to be in the news politically always for the wrong reason. This behaviour is unacceptable, and we roundly condemn the stabbing incident.”
Meanwhile, NPP Central Regional Women Organizer Charlotte Adwoa Antwi said the NPP is focused to win both Presidential and parliamentary election in central region come 7th December 2024, henceforth the party will not do anything to jeopardize the peace in the region.
She said the Awutu Senya East seat is safe under the leadership of Mavis Hawa Koomson.
