Chief Executive Officer of Signal Broadcasting Network, Nana Agyei Boateng has said Ghana movie industry over five years now has seen continuous repetition of same characters playing different roles over and over without giving prominence to the upcoming ones for them to explore.
In some production houses, members can rehearse for almost a year and when the script is about to be filmed, the directors will go for ‘stars’ abandoning the members who have paid huge sums of money termed as location fee and the rest.
This cruel action by some directors impede the plans of these members forcing them to truncate their dreams sadly, he said.
“It is time we all recognise the talent bestowed in our young men and women especially those who have the burning desire and the penchant for acting to get their talent explored.”
According to Nana Agyei Boateng, the need to demystify the myth raging the minds of some populace who hold the believe that a movie without a known personality can not fly.
He further noted that some of the distributors, majority emphasized on the need to have a good story line, quality production, packaging, branding and publicity.
He affirmed that, if all this condition is met, nothing can suppress the sales of the movie regardless of an unknown persons.
“Rhetorically I ask, is there any proof debunking that every movie which featured a known personality becomes a hit? As much as we want to increase competition in the game, it deems it fit to offer equal opportunities to the unknown ones to step into the line light.”
He noted punitive measures should be stipulated to check on production houses who waste the time of their members, extort unaccountable dues from them in the pretense of grooming them and later on dupe and disappoint them.
“Will it not be so grateful to have an industry of open competition where potentials are unveiled at least every month, motivated, inspired and sponsored” he asked?
It looks so disgusted to have an industry where few people are claiming that they are the gods and goddesses making the nucleus and the fulcrums on which our movie industry is based on.
Revolution exercise is needed to usher in potentials from hitherto. Championing on this agitation, Signal Broadcasting Network has crafted a master piece to grace some of the finest discoveries ready to take heights in the industry.
