A project for the construction of reinforced concrete rectangular drain at Goaso valued at GH₵2,330,494.40 has been left to rot in the bush, a 2014 report by the Auditor-General on the public accounts of Ghana (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies) has revealed.

The project which awarded to Buoko Ventures Limited and scheduled for completion in September 2012 was abandoned after 19% stage of completion.

The contractor, the report revealed, was paid a whooping sum of GH₵492,286.08 as mobilization fee and is yet to refund the full amount.

The Ministry of Water Resources, Works & Housing has only recovered GH₵88,000 out of the total mobilization fee, leaving an outstanding balance of GH₵404,286.08.

The Auditor-General who is not enthused about the development has recommended to management of the facility to immediately terminate the contract and ensure full recovery of the outstanding balance of GH₵404,286.08 failure of which management should be surcharged with the principal amount.

A response from management of the facility which was captured in the report states that the said contract has already been terminated and the Project Consultant had begun to process of recovering the outstanding amount from Star Assurance who provided the bank guarantee.
