Veteran Journalist and Social Commentator, Kwesi Pratt Jnr is amazed at how Superlocks Technologies Limited (STL), a company which originally sold door locks has suddenly become so powerful and influential in the Ghanaian economy and executing several multi-million dollar projects.

According to him, he does not understand why a foreign company like STL which is established by Israelis will be given such leverage to play such critical role in Ghana’s economy.

Government has confirmed that STL is the company contracted by the Electoral Commission to transmit results of tallied election results during general elections.

The company has reportedly secured mouth watering deals in Ghana and is carrying out huge projects in the country said to have totalled over $ 4 billion so far.

However speaking on Peace FM, Mr Kwasi Pratt who is the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper who said he has never been enthused about the operations of STL in Ghana was curious to know what was driving the foreign company to make such inroads into the local economy at such short time.

“My record on STL is very clear; I’ve had issues with them since President Kufour’s time. I don’t understand why any foreign company will play the kind of role STL is playing in this economy. I just cannot understand it. STL originally was registered as Superlock Technologies Limited, a company that is in the sale of door locks. Today if you look at our financial sector it’s a dominant company, they provide data to local and foreign banks, it has grown to the extent that it has even gone into construction and doing several construction works across the country.”

He added: “A company that was set up to sell locks and has all of a sudden grown so big is beyond my comprehension. What is behind this sudden growth, I just can’t understand this” Mr Pratt noted.
