The embattled High Court Judge found guilty in the judicial corruption scandal, Justice Paul Derry has finally petition the leadership of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) to withdraw or suspend the 2015 Best Journalist Award bestowed on Ana Aremeyaw Anas on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

Derry through his Counsel in a twelve-page report told the GJA that the ace investigative journalist and his Tiger Eye PI have been pronounced by the Supreme Court as having violated the Constitution in his expose’ and therefore does not warrant such award.

The renowned undercover journalist was last the weekend, celebrated for his work, taking home a Hyundai SUV plus a certificate and a plaque as his prize.

His work on the judicial corruption scandal in 2015 which exposed deep seated rot in the arm of government took the nation by surprise even though it is widely known there’s some corruption in the Judiciary.

Anas’ Tiger Eye PI team’s investigations captured some 22 lower court judges and 12 High Court judges captured on video, allegedly taking bribes to influence justice.

So far, 20 of the lower court judges have been removed from office including some of their superiors.

Counsel for Justice Derry, Nii Kpakpo Addo in an earlier with Joy News maintained that the GJA acted in contempt of court because the stories that won Anas the prize is still being contested at the Supreme Court.

“The Supreme Court of this land has stated that the action of Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger PI are unlawful in respect of showing the said video to the general public is unconstitutional and flies in the face of common sense. Secondly there are ongoing court proceedings and you still go ahead and say you are awarding the person. It is actually in contempt of court. Even if we don’t say anything at all…it is a shame. One of the Judges is taking it up, because if for nothing at all a precedent must be set”.
