A Presidential staffer, Sam Nettey George has won the Ningo-Prampram parliamentary seat for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He polled 24,126 to beat the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate for the area, Sylvester Tetteh in Wednesday’s parliamentary polls conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
Tetteh, Kasapafmonline.com understands, polled 13, 290 out of the total valid votes cast.
George, following his controversial victory over the incumbent MP for the area, Enoch Teye Mensah, in the NDC’s parliamentary primary, was the underdog going into Wednesday’s poll.
Many had expressed the fear that his relationship with Mr. E.T. Mensah which abruptly came to an end after he competed and defeated the former Youth & Sports Minister, will affect his chances of retaining the seat for the NDC.
There were also fears his smooth relationship with the chiefs in area which had gone bad was also going to affect his chances of winning the seat.
But none of these dampened the spirit of the young man who put up a strong performance to emerge victorious in Wednesday’s poll.
