Thousands of party supporters took to the streets of the capital to celebrate after the Electoral Commission declared NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo as the president elect.

Others who couldn’t hide their joy thronged the party headquarters and the president elect’s residence to celebrate the victory with NPP stalwarts.

He won by 5,716, 026 votes representing 53.85%, toppling incumbent President John Dramani Mahama who polled 4,713,277 representing 44.04%

The former Foreign Minister and Attorney General under the erstwhile Kufour administration’s victory, comes after his third attempt at the presidency, having contested in the 2008 and 2012 elections.
