The natives of Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region are accusing the Authorities of Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) of selling Odai Ntow lands illegally.

Led by the queen mother of Kwabenya, Naa Korkoi Dugbatey ll, the indegenes are calling on the government and president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to stop the Atomic Energy from selling the lands.

Speaking at a press conference Tuesday, she called on the government to hand over the land to its allodial owners if land is not being used for the purpose for which it was acquired according to the law governing land usage.

Elders and family members of the Nii Odai Ntow family, which is claiming ownership of the Kwabenya lands, say certain “faceless” officials in Government and the NDC party are behind attempts to rob them of their rightful inheritance.

There were litigation in the year 2013 in relation to some parcel of land in the same enclave-Kwabenya after a Chinese developer who was putting up an ultra modern business structure was battled by the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission on one side, and the Odai Ntow family on the other side.

While authorities at GAEC said the siting of the project was too close to its nuclear plant, the Odai Ntow family also contended the land belonged to them and, as far as they were concerned, they had not released it to any developer.
