Head Coach of Ghana’s Blackstars, Avram Grant says he expects his players to be mentally resilient when Ghana takes on DR Congo in the quarter final of the ongoing AFCON in Gabon later today.
Ghana finished second in Group D behind Egypt after picking wins in their first two matches in the tournament.
Speaking to the Press ahead of the game, Grant said eventhough he remains upbeat about Ghana’s victory, their opponent will provide a challenging test for the stars in their game.
“I believe in our team that we’ve a good team, but you know Congo is very good. And I think they played very well in this tournament. Even before, I’ve been watching them long time; they’re a good team. But we’ve shown in the game that we’ve played very well and that we’re going to play good football and show strong mentality and we’ll bring it tomorrow to the pitch.”
Ghana are four times champions of Africa, while Democratic Republic of Congo have won the AFCON twice.
These giants in African football have clashed on twenty (20) occasions. The Black Stars have won ten (10), while DR Congo have five (5) victories with five of them (5) ending in draws.
