Minister-designate for Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei says he has not been hired by the President to control his colleague Ministers in his new role in government as being misinterpreted  by sections of the public.

He said he won’t lord over his colleagues but will coordinate with them in evaluating the party’s success at reaching targets vis a vis the prevailing problems in the economy.

Responding to a question posed by, Joseph Cudjoe, Member of Parliament (Effia) whether he’ll literally assume the mode of headmaster in his role, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei said he only has a responsibility to assist and facilitate the collective task assigned to them  by the President.

“I’ll not be a headmaster. I’ll be assisting, facilitating; It works better that way. I don’t like words like control. They are all being appointed by the President and accountable to the President but I think these matters it’s a collegial work. That’s why cabinet is there to assist the president.”

Albeit, he said government cannot continue to work the way it is “if we want results.”

The president, he told the committee, promised Ghanaians change and “If we are going that way…then it’s not going to be business as usual.”

Dr. Akoto Osei today took his turn at the vetting Committee to justify his appointment by the President before parliament’s Appointment Committee
