President Akufo-Addo has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the 19 students who were crashed to death by trees at the Kintampo waterfalls.

In a tweet on the incident Monday, the President who is abroad for a conference, said:” I have learnt with great sadness, the unfortunate incident that occurred at Kintampo Waterfalls yesterday.

“My deepest condolences to the families of all those affected by this unfortunate and tragic incident”.


Revellers, mostly students from the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School had gone to the Waterfalls to swim while on an excursion but ended up being killed when heavy trees fell from the top of the waterfalls and landed on them, eye witnesses say.

Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police including other disaster management officials rushed to the disaster scene to rescue lives.

Several others have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
