The Ghana Police Service has made known its intention to investigate Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale for publicly firing a gun.
ACP David Eklu, Public Affairs Director of the service noted that the incident is potentially an offense but they need to investigate further.
“If you fire a gun without lawful and necessary reasons it is an offence,” explained ACP Eklu to Andy Dosty on HITZ FM. “I have seen the video. I don’t know the circumstance under which the video was shot. For all we know it could have been tailored to create an impression.”
A few days ago, a video of Wale shooting a gun was posted online. In the video, he mentioned the names of Nigerian artistes, Wizkid, Patoranking and Timaya whilst firing the shots.
Hiplife artiste, Tic Tack early this week called for the arrest of the Dancehall artiste for the action during an interview on Hitz FM.
“This is not a joke. Do we want to lose lives before we take it seriously? This is a country where laws work and we must put them to use in this case. Let’s use the law.”
Nathaniel Kwabena Adisi (Bola Ray), Chief Executive Officer of Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) Network, on Wednesday during his Starr Chat show on Starr 103.5 FM, disclosed that himself and Kwame Sefa Kayi had privately condemn Wale for his actions.
I called him up on Saturday and I had some strong words for him. Together with Kwami Sefa Kayi for 30 minutes we were on the phone with him and I think that is so bad, uncalled for, uncultured and I condemn it. Yes say’s he’s going to apologize and I’m waiting for him to do that. I don’t mince words and I’m saying it for the first time on radio that, I did that. I didn’t mince words at all and I think that from how he came about, he was remorseful about it and says he was just…but I won’t go into details.”
